a place to read my thoughts …it's scary here

August 9th GBC Worship Prep

Every week my brother (who leads the worship at our church; Grace Bible Church in Tempe) sends out the set list for Sunday along with an added note about his heart for the worship service.  I am encouraged by them each week and my time of worship has been sweetened by knowing and praying through the songs ahead of time.

So, I’m going to start posting these emails on my blog each week.  If you’re part of the GBC family, it is a great resource and I hope it will be as encouraging for you as it has been for me.

Hello everyone! I pray you are all having a sweet week living for and seeking to know our awesome God. He is truly amazing and has brought to us such a hope. He has redeemed us and saved us from sin’s power and has set us free from it. He is worthy of all praise! He is the Lamb upon His throne and is to be crowned with many crowns! He died for us and is our matchless King. This Lord of love was not one of many hopes that we had. In Him alone is our hope found. He alone is our strength and shield. He alone is worthy of honor! What a joy to be given the privilege to sing, “holy holy holy is the Lamb!” In view of this awesome God who has brought us such a great salvation we must respond by taking up our cross and following Him. The world has nothing to offer in comparison to the riches that are Christ.

I am extremely excited to worship God in song in this way on Sunday! I pray each of our lives reflect faith in these truths this week as we live for the glory of His name!

Songs:
Hope Has Come
Crown Him With many Crowns
In Christ Alone
The Revelation Song
Jesus I My Cross Have Taken

Grace!

And for parents- extra encouragement- on Sunday we often tell our kids one or two of the songs that will be sung at church that day, and if we have the song on our ipods we play it so that they can be more involved in the service.
