God’s Glory in the Doctrines of Grace
This last week I was talking to my pastor about the doctrines of grace. I made the statement that I have no idea how to explain them in under 7 minutes. He agreed with me and told me it was nearly impossible. He then spit out this sentence (Matt Kellso paraphrase, I wish I was recording it).
Man is dead and opposed to God. So God, in the most loving act in human history created a way to save man from Himself by sending His Son to the cross to die and atone for that opposition. The Holy Spirit then transforms that man and something regenerated will never be pulled away from He that regenerated him.

I love this guy.

Wow. Nice summary of the gospel, which is the good news that God did through Christ what we couldn’t do to reconcile us to himself. It all from God, for God, by God, and to God. That’s why I love the doctrines of grace. What a humbling message the gospel is.

Jacob – I like that statement, “from God, for God, by God, and to God.” We need to remember that salvation is not a get out of jail free card, but it is God enabling us to experience Him. What a glorious Savior we have!
