I just finished one of my favorite books of all time, The Johnstown Flood by David McCullough. I’m a big McCullough fan. I’ve read his John Adams (in which the recent HBO series was based), I’ve read 1776, Truman and I think one other. I enjoyed them all. I enjoy him, because of the detail that he includes. His research is unparalleled and I believe that he is more accurate than most history books. So when I picked up one of his older books, I knew that I was going to get a decent book, but had no idea what I was in for.

Sometime since November, I read one of Barack Obama’s books titled “The Audacity of Hope”. The book is an political biography written by our upcoming President. He titled it as such because he believes that there is still hope that the “American Dream” can be had by any American with a few changes in our political system.

Dever’s Call to action was a perfect way to complete an exceptional book. I would do him an injustice if I closed this series without his closing:
We want to see a renewed commitment to and joy in the great privilege we have of sharing the good news of Christ with the lost and dying [...]

OK, now this is just becoming a quote blog, but I don’t care. Here is one more from Dever (actually, I know there will be at least one more after this one). What can I say, I want to remember these beyond the reading of this book.
